About my work
I’m a South African filmmaker and screenwriter, and a graduate of the University of Cape Town. I was fortunate to receive a British Commonwealth Scholarship to study at the London Film School, where I deepened my love for cinematic storytelling.
Since then, I’ve directed numerous short films, a miniseries, four feature films, and co-directed a feature documentary. You can see the trailers for some of these on my films page.

A while back, I co-founded Boondogle Films with Paul Egan, Bert Haitsma, Kim Williams, and Mustapha Hendricks – all equal partners united by a shared passion for authentic, collaborative filmmaking.
Tragically, Kim passed away in a mountain accident in 2021. We miss him deeply and carry his spirit into everything we do.
Currently, our team is developing an exciting new feature project with Netflix, written by Mustapha.

One of my favourite quotes comes from the late, great Orson Welles:
“A poet needs a pen, a painter a brush, and a director an army."
Absolutely – filmmaking is pure collaboration. We create films by rallying a talented crew of freelancers, like this fabulous team behind Snake.
Isn’t Boondogle a bit weird?
Yes, Boondogle Films is an unusual name – and there’s a story behind it.
We originally set up the company to make a fantasy film about a mythical creature that was part Baboon, part Dolphin, and part Eagle – hence Boon-dog-le. The film never happened, but the name stuck.
It’s not to be confused with the word boondoggle, which (according to Google) means:
boondoggle
/ˈbuːnˌdɒɡl/
informal, North American Englishnoun
An unnecessary, wasteful, or fraudulent project.“He characterized the defense program as an unworkable boondoggle.”
Definitely not us!
